MUSE: I cannot open my port

  1. To resolve this issue, ensure that your cutter is powered on and connected to your computer via USB.
  2. Next, check the Windows Device Manager to confirm if your cutter is communicating properly with the computer.
  3. 1. Go to the Search bar in your Start menu and look for Device Manager. Open that program. (Windows 11 users, make sure you click the Windows Search icon, not Bing search)  * If you are connected through a USB, find and open "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" by clicking the > symbol. It will open a list.
  4. Look for "USB print support"
  5. Open your LXi/Flexi Production Manager.
  6. Click "Setup" and "Add Setup"
  7. Choose MUSE as the brand name and select which version of the MUSE cutter you have from the drop-down list. (For this example, I am choosing ARTISAN.)
  8. With a USB connection, MUSE cutters like to sit on USB_Printer_0. If you see USB_Printer_1 or anything else, and if your cutter was the last item plugged in, choose the highest number after USB_Printer_
  9. Now that you have your cutter assigned to the correct port, it should be ready to go as long as the cutter displays as "Ready."
  10. Right click on your cutter to run a Test Cut to make sure it is ready Once you've completed these steps, your cutter should be able to cut from the software without any issues. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out.
